New York, NY

Building a quality management program helps HIV programs sustain their improvement activities over time. Assessing these quality programs enables providers to better understand their strengths and weaknesses.

The following tools provide a system for assessing the organizational framework of a quality management program and for identifying areas that need development. Assessment tools are available for each Ryan White Part:

The Part A and Part B tool has the following categories:

  • Quality Management Plan
  • Organizational infrastructure for quality
  • Implementation of Quality Management Plan
  • Capacity building

The Part C and Part D tool includes the following main categories:

  • Quality management
  • Workforce engagement in the HIV quality program
  • Measurement, analysis and use of data to improve program performance
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Consumer involvement
  • Quality program evaluation
  • Achivement of outcomes

Directions:
A team approach is best when assessing your existing quality program. Meet with the individuals in your quality program and complete the assessment together. If you have an active quality management committee, you might want to meet with them as well. The ratings give you the opportunity to rate your program’s depth of engagement within each category.

Review the completed assessment tool with your quality team to determine which areas need improvement.
